Search tips: Keywords and taxonomy classifications

Although we don't formally classify companies into a traditional taxonomy, we do collect a rich body of keywords and descriptive text for them. For example, we often have 20 or more different versions of a company description from various sources, all of which are searchable. Similarly, we continuously harvest multiple keywords associated with new and existing companies. This ongoing tagging and harvesting of information is important in emerging innovation areas where new themes constantly appear and often overlap.

When searching for companies it is a good idea to choose a number of keywords associated with what you are looking for to help ensure you capture the universe of relevant companies within your search results.

In your search results, the results panel will show the section of text where the match was made, and in export files there is a column called 'Search Snippet' which also shows the search match.
